I knew I'd never make it to Twenty Three [Mar. 3rd, 2006|12:25 am]
It's kind of creepy that I opened my last livejournal entry with "I'm not dead." because I seriously almost died before I got the chance to write another one. Today is March 2nd and March 3rd is my birthday, so before midnight, Jarrod and I went out to meet some friends for a quick snack at the beautiful Waffle House right down the road from my apartment. It was about 11:30 or so when we decided to leave, so I could be back home when it turned midnight. I was leading the pack back to my house so everyone was lined up behind me in thier cars while I waited for traffic to pass so I could pull out onto a road. We are sitting completely still and there was one car coming around a pass toward us (on the driver's side) so I couldn't pull out yet, but I was watching and waiting for him to pass. There's a slight turn and then he would have passed us, but I noticed that he wasn't straightening out to take the turn which meant he was heading right toward the driver door of my car. Really fast. He was still far enough away (maybe 75 yards away) to avoid hitting us but he obviously wasn't going to straighten out. So here me and Jarrod are sitting in my car after eating waffles with some friends behind us and I'm watching a truck's headlights heading directly toward my window. I really wasn't scared I just couldn't believe what it looked like. It seemed fake. I remember just looking at the headlights and thinking "is that really coming right at us? what is this guy doing?" Suddenly, the truck hit a telephone pole that I didn't even notice being there and the back end came flying up and around the front of the truck. I don't really remember the sound it made, but I know it was loud. This truck is now flipping and completely out of control and heading straight at my window. I swear, it couldn't have been aimed any better at us. Still moving really fast and now coming apart and throwing debris everywhere. Me and Jarrod didn't really do anything but lean back away from the window as it was getting closer. I remember thinking "wow, that looks heavy." And not even really coming to reality with the fact that this thing is barrelling right at us. When it gets seriously about 10 feet from my car it flips the last time, and I thought "oh" for a split second, but now it's just sliding up on it's side towards my car. I swear to God that it stopped sliding maybe 4 feet from my window, on it's side, with the bottom of the car facing us. I promise there was a spinning tire at the window of my car and smoke spraying out everywhere. It just stopped sliding right there. The way it was facing, if it would have just wobbled over one more time it would have been directly on top of us on all four tires. I don't remember saying anything while it was coming at us, but Jarrod told me that I just kinda leaned back and said in a kind of sarcastic voice "oh boy..... I'm gonna die." He didn't freak out either. We both just kinda watched it like it wasn't happening. Right after the car stopped sliding, Jarrod jumped right out of the car on his side because the truck was on my side and I couldn't decide if I should get out almost directly under the car or not. I felt like I had to because it still seemed wobbly enought to roll over on me. So I did. And it didn't. My friend Auston (he was in the car right behind us) said that I got out and looked at him and laughed like I just got off a roller coaster. It was insane. It's crazy to think about the way that truck would have directly slammed right into us while we were sitting still if that pole wasn't there. I absolutely would have been dead and Jarrod would more than likely be too. Just like that. Done. The driver climbed out of the passenger side door and jumped out. AMAZINGLY, he wasn't injured. He had no idea what happened. He was hammered drunk. The first thing he said when he got out was, "Help me flip this back over, so the cops won't know I was drunk." I swear. The guy was driving drunk and seriously almost killed 2 people. Seriously almost killed ME and JARROD. You never think that you'd be the one sitting there in the car that those kinds of things happen to. You just hear about them on the news or something. Anyway, in the end, it was the wildest thing I've ever seen in my life and I've nevver been closer to dying, but no one was seriously injured. Given those facts, I'm almost excited about it in a way. Almost like a birthday present. I got to see the most scary and exciting thing I've ever seen in my life on my birthday and no one got hurt. My buddy Kai said that it happened because he almost left his cell phone in Waffle House but he remembered to grab it when he ran in to call the police. Close one...

This Florida boy knows about some snow..... [Feb. 13th, 2006|01:23 am]
[listening to |Wildflowers - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers]

Hey! I am not dead. I've been keeping myself pretty busy lately. It's been snowing and I've been throwing snowballs all day and all night, so that has been taking up pretty much all of my time. You have to be patient. It takes a lot of waiting and hiding to have a successful snowball attack. As you must know. I'm happy. Happy and cold is still happy in the long run. In between long and mostly successful snowball attacks I've been working, recording, writing, building a new website, house-shopping, etc.. House shopping has been going really well and I'm excited about it. It's fun shopping for houses. Just underneath pummelling an unsuspecting victim with a cannon-ball made of snow that is. Life is good. Life is better when it's covered in white.

Who got a job? This guy. [Oct. 19th, 2005|06:29 pm]
I got a really good paying job as a valet at a nice new italian restaraunt towards downtown. I'm rich now. We start recording this week too. I have never made a biscuit.

(no subject) [Oct. 16th, 2005|07:06 pm]
[listening to |M Ward]

So there's not much going on really. I'm trying to find a job at the moment. I need to find one to work around our recording. We start on Thursday and I'm really ready to do it. I saw my dad today. He came by on his way home from Indiana and had some lunch before he beat me and Tim at raquetball. Halloween is coming! I'm not really excited enough to use an exclamation point, but it just seemed to fit. I thought I was going home, but now I'm not sure if I am. We'll see. If not, there is an enchanted Halloween party going down at a friends house that would be fun to go to. I want some cookies.

California here we come! [Sep. 17th, 2005|03:45 pm]
[listening to |doves]

I've been hanging out in California with the guys for the past couple of weeks. We're doing pre-production with a guy up here, and we've been staying in his studio house. It's been really fun. We went to Malibu beach the other night and it really is amazing. It's weird to stand on a beach and look over to a mountain running along the side of it. I'm going to get some pics up soon. The recording is going good too. We have to take a break though because we all went offroading up this mountain trail on 4-wheelers yesterday and Tim jacked his back up. This really has been a good year. A strange, but fun year. I've seen a lot of new things and met a lot of new people. I miss some of my old friends a lot though... I love you all!
